Mosque Charity Money Box At Restaurant  It happened last night,  when I visited one of very famous Padangnese Restaurants in Pontianak, I came across two Mosque Charity Money box or Indonesian called "Kotak Amal" displayed at the corner of the restaurant.  This is very interesting for me as I have been looking for some information about the charity box.

We know, charity box money or mosque cash (read: income) is money belonging to the people. They issue their property for the sake of the mosque, the interests of the Muslims so that the mosque as a place of worship is a good and convenient means for anyone who performs rituals of worship and pious charity. Therefore, the mosque's cash money is not owned by individuals or groups.

For this reason, good managerial is needed so that the money is effective for the benefit of the mosque. On this basis, the management structure or takmir of the mosque was formed, one of which was the authority to regulate and utilize the mosque's cash money.

Please note, that the status of the mosque's cash money resulting from the charity box cannot be categorized as a waqaf object, considering that money is an item that is used up and not baqaul-a'in (eternal goods that are not used up)

Because the charity box money is not an eternal item such as land, the status cannot be called waqaf. What is meant by eternal objects here are things that cannot be changed like the land that is meant for a mosque.

Unlike money, money is an impermanent thing. If money is considered to be a waqaf which can last forever, it is clear that it is impossible for paper money or coins from the charity box to be left in the form of money.

Money is valuable because of its exchange value, money must be transacted, benefits are taken. It is not possible and impossible to allow cash to be a waqaf object which is precisely when it is silenced, the substance of the money will be damaged and the exchange rate decreases as the year increases.

In addition, another reason that makes the status not including waqaf objects is the absence of shighat waqaf when someone gives the money, so that his position is only sodaqah and not waqaf.

Therefore, it is legitimate to use charity box money as long as it is for the mosque's interests and weaknesses, including giving "bisyarah" (awards, paste greetings, wages) to all activists or parties who contribute to the mosque's prosperity, such as: rawatib prayer prayer , muezzin, khotib, bilal, cleaning team / section, teacher / kiai who teaches to prosper the mosque and so on. Provided that the nominal amount of money is less than the wage in general. This is like what Ibn Shobbagh said from the book "I'anatuth Tholibiin".

In conclusion, cash from the mosque charity box and money from other income given to the mosque is not a waqaf item. The status is sodaqah (amal jariyah). The reason is, first, it is not an eternal item like land, second, there is no shighat waqaf (ijab-qobul) when the money is given to the mosque.

With its status which is not a waqaf object, the cash of the mosque can be used for all matters related to the benefit of the mosque to prosper the house of Allah. Mosque charity money that has alms status can and may be used to, for example, pay for electricity, water, purchase of lamps and all the needs of the mosque, including for the bisharah of preachers, bilal, muezzins, janitors, security, teachers / kiai / da'i in mosque, and so on.
